January 2024 Update: Enhancing Social Prescribing Services

In January 2024, the Health and Wellbeing Community Referral Social Prescribing Service actively engaged 196 individuals, with 70 new referrals joining the programme. During this period, Social Prescribing Link Workers participated in a full day of reflective practice and peer support sessions. These sessions focused on identifying opportunities to enhance the service and address common challenges for the year ahead. The team found great value in these collaborative discussions, which helped them navigate the demanding nature of their work, reigniting their commitment and fostering a positive and proactive approach to service development.

Additionally, some Social Prescribing Link Workers are involved in researching Social Prescribing Evaluation Tools in collaboration with the HSE and Trinity College. They are also contributing to the Echo Learning Hub, an online platform created by the HSE that explores topics relevant to social prescribing in Ireland. These efforts are crucial in shaping future service delivery and addressing ongoing challenges.

Creative Projects to Support Wellbeing

In partnership with Cork and Kerry County Councils, the Health and Wellbeing Community Referral Social Prescribing Service secured funding from Creative Ireland to launch a series of creative projects aimed at enhancing the health and wellbeing of service users. Additionally, an evaluation report of the Kerry Arts Collaboration is available for review, offering insights into this impactful partnership.
